Why do women paint their lips nasty red and coat them with lipliner?

Seriously. I mean, I'm a girl and I like to look pretty and all, but so many women make their lips look so nasty!! What is the appeal!?!? Yes, we see them, you have lips, they are there and they are nice, but lay off on the red paint!!


And then they leave a ring of nastiness on whatever their lips touch like straws, cups, napkins. *shudder* I really don't get it.Why do women paint their lips nasty red and coat them with lipliner?
